Frequently Asked Questions
What should I bring with my dog? Bring their food, we have plenty of bowls and water. Bring their bed if they sleep on something specific, you may bring any toys that they like to play with but we also have some here. Bring their leash so we can safely walk them from the car inside and take on walks if preferred. Bring their kennel if they need it.
Do they need to be vaccinated? Yes. They need to be up to date on the Rabies, Bordetella, and DHLPP vaccines.
What is DHLPP? DHLPP protects against five serious diseases -
Distemper – a contagious and often fatal virus affecting the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems.
Hepatitis – caused by adenovirus, it can damage the liver and other organs.
Leptospirosis – a bacterial disease that can cause kidney and liver failure (and can spread to humans).
Parainfluenza – one of the causes of kennel cough.
Parvovirus – a highly contagious virus that attacks the intestines, often deadly in puppies.
Why do we require these vaccines? To keep all pets in our care safe from contagion.
Do you provide grooming services? Some. We are happy to provide baths and nail trims as part of your dog’s stay with us. This is upon request, additional charges apply. If you are interested in more detailed grooming services, we are happy to provide a recommendation.
Can you care for pets with special needs, like giving medication or handling senior pets? Absolutely. Jack has extensive veterinary clinic experience and is very comfortable with administering medication as needed. Anna has had a soft spot for senior dogs since caring for her old girl Bellamy many years ago.
How about puppies that are still in process of being house trained? Yes, there is an additional charge.
How do you handle emergencies or if my pet gets sick? We will ask for you veterinarian’s information prior to drop off and we are prepared to contact them as needed. We will also keep you informed if any emergencies arise.
Are you trained in pet first aid or CPR? Yes, Jack is.
What safety measures do you have in place when walking dogs or letting them outside? In our backyard, we have a six foot privacy fence all the way around that we check regularly to ensure it is secured. We also do not let dogs out in the backyard alone. When we head outside in the front, all pets are on leash.
Do you keep my pet on their normal feeding/walk/play schedule? Definitely. We will happily follow all instructions and schedule provided to ensure your pet is safe and secure and feels comfortable.
Do you send updates, pictures, or videos while I’m away? Yes! We love taking pictures and videos and we will provide them to you via text or email. We also have social media where we love sharing pictures and videos of the sweet dogs we get to care for.
